What Is A Fat Transfer?

This is one of the hottest topics in plastic surgery today and Dr. Tattini has been doing this at his Bloomington, Illinois office since he opened his practice. Plastic surgeons have now evolved into not just cutting and removing but also restoring volume. It is this volume that is so often associated with youth.

Fat is harvested with sophisticated equipment from another part of your body and then injected into your lips for fullness, or smile lines to decrease the creases or other folds/defects that produce contour deficiencies. Dr. Tattini’s Ivy League training has allowed him to be on the cutting edge of this technology which pertains to both his cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries.

Fat Injections FAQs

What areas of the body can fat be injected into?

Fat can be injected into any area that is void of tissue.

Is there a difference between fat transfer and fat injections?

Fat transfer and injections are usually synonymous because it means you are harvesting fat from one part of the body, processing it, and then injecting it into a recipient site.

What is the fat transfer surgery like?

Usually, liposuction to some extent is performed. The fat is then processed on the back table and then injected through cannulas. Large volumes can be used such as in buttocks or breasts. Smaller volumes are used typically in facial surgeries such as facelifts where volume is needed for a more youthful look.
