There are two ways in which abdominal contouring typically occurs. Even with the advent of radio frequency or cooling (fat freezing) treatments, liposuction and abdominoplasty remain the highest standard of care regarding results. Which may be right for you depends on your overall needs.
Liposuction
A flatter, tighter tummy may be hidden behind a bit of stored fat. In such a situation, liposuction may be an ideal method of treatment. This procedure strategically removes abdominal fat so underlying muscle tone can be more easily seen. Dr. Tattini is meticulous about the liposuction procedure, using the SAFE technique: Separation, Aspiration, then Fat Equalization of adipose tissue to reduce the chances of over or under correction. The SAFE technique is followed by power-assisted liposuction, in which a small, oscillating probe disrupts fat cells for gentle extraction.
Is liposuction for you?
It might be if your skin is resilient enough to contract after fat removal. The firmness and elasticity of the skin are assessed during your consultation.
Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck surgery may be performed as an individual procedure, or in conjunction with liposuction. This tummy-tightening technique (say that five times, fast!) removes skin that has become slack, as well as muscles that have lost their firmness. If stretch marks are a concern, a tummy tuck may minimize or remove them altogether.
Is a tummy tuck right for you?
Tummy tuck surgery, or abdominoplasty, is a good option for men and women whose primary concern is sagging due to muscle or tissue stretch that may have resulted from weight gain or pregnancy.
